You can explore the stunning details of Michelangelo’s iconic work this summer at Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition! Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition showcases the awe and wonder of arguably one of mankind’s greatest artistic achievements while allowing its visitors to experience this art from an Up-Close, Life-Sized, and Never-Before-Seen perspective.
this exhibit brings you up close and personal to Michelangelo’s most noteworthy masterpieces, creating a long hallway of luminous artwork that’s unlike any perspective you’ll get elsewhere—not even the Vatican!
Brought to life using a special printing technique that emulates the look and feel of the original paintings, visitors are given a chance to engage with the artwork in a way that was never before possible: seeing every detail, every brushstroke, and every color of the artist’s 34 frescoes. Each image is accompanied by informative signage, and audio guides in English or Spanish are available to rent for an even more in-depth experience.
Painted between 1508 and 1512, the Sistine Chapel was painted in Michelangelo’s signature fresco style, where he used wet paint on the freshly plastered walls and ceilings of the Apostolic Palace in Rome, Italy. The fresco method of painting makes the work, over time, blend into the plastered surface it’s painted on.
This enchanting experience replicates that with vibrant 360-degree replications of the full body of work. Michelangelo finished his work between 1535 and 1541 with the renowned piece, titled The Last Judgment, which visitors can also marvel at in this innovative and cutting-edge interpretation of one of the world’s most famous interior paintings.
Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition will also observe all local safety rules and guidelines, so bring a mask and keep your distance from your fellow art lovers!
The entire experience will last about 60-to-90 minutes and is now taking place at the Pioneer Place in Portland.
